5 minLesson 2/3

Build a DNA-locked character whose face and voice stay consistent everywhere.

Before you generate anything at scale, you need a subject that will not change on you. In OnZero that subject is a character: a locked identity you define once and reuse forever. This is the single most important thing to set up well, because everything else in the studio builds on it.

What "DNA-lock" actually means

A character is defined from a reference image, and OnZero keeps that exact face and body consistent across every future generation. That fixed identity is the DNA-lock. It is why the person you build today will still be recognizably the same person in a video you make next month.

Building it step by step

  1. 1Open the new character screen and give your character a clear name.
  2. 2Add a strong reference image with a clear, well-lit, front-facing face.
  3. 3Confirm the locked attributes so the face and body stay fixed.
  4. 4Set up the character voice if you plan to use it in talking video or voiceover.
  5. 5Save the character so it is ready to reuse anywhere in OnZero.

A crisp, front-facing reference photo gives the DNA-lock the most to work with. Blurry, angled or heavily filtered references are the number one cause of weak consistency.

Once the character is saved it shows up everywhere you create - the Playground, video tools, workflows, and even the MCP in chat. You only do this setup once, so it is worth spending a couple of extra minutes to pick the best reference. From here on, you will just attach this character and let the lock do the work.
